For most of my adult life I have battled with my weight.  When I say “battled”, I now recognise as an established and grounded Mind Body Eating Coach… that I, like many women, got so caught up in having to be a Certain Number on the Scales
 
To me, this number determined not only my Health Status, but also my Self Worth! 
  
As a child I was always “normal” weight and quite active, growing up on a farm and having chores to do and siblings to run and play and get into mischief with, and we always played sport.  As a teenager I left home at 15, due to our family’s circumstances, and made some very poor choices for my health with over-indulging in alcohol and taking up smoking.
 
My 20’s led me into a dysfunctional relationship with my first love…. Which in turn created a dysfunctional relationship with myself.  I started having thoughts of “if I stay thin, he will love me and stay with me”.
 
Hindsight is an amazing thing…. And although he never stayed and I spent my 30’s trying to repair my relationship with myself, I now recognise that “experience”, as one of MY life’s lessons that I had to go through in order to teach others.
 
What I realized is firstly, he didn’t stay because of his own issues and secondly, I am glad he didn’t stay because his values didn’t align with mine…. And I would not have the beautiful life I have today, or the self-love I also enjoy in my life now!
 
Over the years, it has been these life experiences, along with my professional studies in Functional Nutrition, Mind Body Eating Coaching, DNA Testing, Omega Testing, Emotional Freedom Technique and Access BARS, that have helped me learn that great health is NOT about a number on the scales!
 
Yes it is has taken years of study and lessons, but I now know the things that are important to achieve great health – to achieve the ultimate goal of being free of DIS-EASE.
 
And let me say, it is NOT your Willpower that is stopping you losing weight, gaining energy or beating the sugar cravings.  So let’s stop beating ourselves up as women, and start looking at what IS causing this…. And how you can turn it around!
 
Research by Dr Alan Christianson who has treated many patients with Fatty Liver Syndrome, has shown that when the liver is over-burdened by excess sugar (which is in all processed food and alcohol), the body stores it as fat. This then can trigger a potentially devastating inflammatory response, which is often linked to heart disease and various forms of cancer.
 
New research also suggests that Fatty Liver Syndrome is not just the consequence of weight gain, but can also be the cause of weight gain.  So addressing these liver issues is crucial in the fight to regain health and lose centimetres.
