Your liver is an organ that sits at the top of your abdomen, just beneath your lungs and diaphragm. It is usually larger on the right side, but reaches all the way to the left.
All the blood from your intestinal tract, along with your other blood from your veins, flows through the liver and back to the heart.
This is happening approximately once Every Minute!
Imagine drinking a 250ml glass of water every 5 seconds non-stop, day and night? This is exactly what your liver does constantly with your blood.
I am sure you are becoming very aware of how important this organ is to your overall health! Without it performing at 100% there is NO possible way you can be enjoying the best health possible.
The liver is really the ultimate buffer for your body – storing, filtering, converting and protecting.
Let’s look at how it does all of these things….
STORING
- Your Liver holds on to vitamins, minerals, modified amino acids, immune cells, fuel and hormones…. Making it your personal 24/7 grocery store.
- It also stores micronutrients – B12, Iron, Copper, Vit A, D & K.
- Eating liver of animals is incredibly healthy for your body, as they store the same nutrients as ours do – which is why you will hear it often termed as a “Super Food”.
FILTERING
- As you know the liver filters our entire blood supply once every 60 seconds, but it also regulates the “ecosystem” in our bodies, creating a safe aquarium in our skin.
Think of your liver as the filter in your aquarium… which we all know, when the filter breaks down in the aquarium it can lead to all sorts of algae and health issues for the fish! ☹
CONVERTING
- Many essential nutrients, we can only get from food…
But there are countless nutrients that are important, that you aren’t even aware of, as your liver is quietly building them in the background.
- These nutrients are called “non-essential” nutrients… but not because they aren’t essential… simply because the liver is looking out for us and building them automatically e.g. amino acids.
- Amino acids are like individual blocks are to a Lego creation – each one is needed to build the final masterpiece.
- The liver also regulates fuel and hormones, and rids the blood of toxins – meaning that if the liver slacks off even a little bit, the brain can shut down from toxicity.
PROTECTING
- A large part of your intestinal system is governed by intestinal bacteria; however the intestinal tract is separate from the rest of the body.
Guess who guards the gate to it? Correct – your liver.
Nearly everything entering your body from intestines must pass through the liver. - The liver is filled with special immune cells that serve as guards and attack anything bad trying to get in, alerting your immune system to the situation on the front line!
If you have read this far, Congratulations on being a person who is extremely interested in learning about your liver – which you can clearly see is one of the main determinants for whether we enjoy great health, or not! ☹
When you understand what your liver IS and what it DOES, it helps you understand that when it is not functioning at 100%, it is going to create issues of fatigue, brain fog, excess weight, food cravings, digestive issues and poor sleep.
But when cleansed and working at optimum levels, you can also see how these things will be gone for good, creating a life of abundant energy, stable weight, amazing sleep and the clearest mind you will ever experience.
