With Winter comes all kinds of seasonal threats. This is because some strains of colds and flus are more active in the Autumn and Winter.

For this reason, it’s important to keep your immune system functioning at its best. There are lots of ways to boost your immunity naturally from the comfort of your home.

One way to increase your immunity during cold and flu season is by using spices!

The great thing about spices is that you don’t have to take them like you would take medicine.  You can add them to your favourite foods and beverages.  This makes it easy to include them in your everyday life.

Here are my top three favourite Spices to help keep your immune system strong!

1. Cloves
Cloves are a sweet and spicy addition to any recipe. While cloves are typically used in pumpkin-based desserts, they can be used in a variety of dishes, including meats, fruits, and more.

Cloves are anti-inflammatory and antibacterial, which make them perfect for fighting against seasonal threats. Plus, cloves are full of other vitamins and minerals.

2. Turmeric
Turmeric is a favourite all year round, but it can be a great addition to all your Autumn/Winter recipes.

It’s popular in alternative medicine, and it has been for centuries. Curcumin is in turmeric and can help with inflammation and infection. You can try making an at-home turmeric tea or golden milk latte (let me know if you need a recipe! ?) to boost your immunity.

3. Cardamom
There are two types of cardamom—green and black. Both green and black cardamom can boost your immunity.

Black cardamom is very effective when it comes to fighting off colds and other seasonal threats.

Cardamom oil, which comes from the seeds, can relieve throat soreness too.

To keep seasonal threats at bay this Winter, try adding cloves, turmeric, and cardamom to the next dish you prepare. You can also look for recipes that specifically call for these spices to get you in the spirit of immune boosting, while prioritising your health.

Get in the habit of enjoying these spices in recipes throughout the cooler months.

By using them on a regular basis, you can keep your immune system functioning at its best and protect yourself from seasonal threats.

Plus, you can continue to use these spices if you happen to get sick. They may help you to recover more quickly.

But here’s the thing… it is important to keep your Immune System strong and resilient all year round, so by getting into the habit of using these spices in Winter, it will help you keep up great habits throughout the rest of the year, to support your body in an easy and natural way, and keep you healthy 365 days a year!
