What does it mean to be working in your Masculine energy versus your Feminine energy? I believe it is a really important topic for all women living in the 21st century, to understand the differences between the two, in order to help restore balance in your life.

Many women in today’s society are experiencing severe anxiety, high stress, bouts of depression and feelings of being in a constant state of busyness and overwhelm. You find yourself wide awake at 2am thinking about all you need to get done at work tomorrow, before you need to get to school pick up,to then get your child to tennis lessons, and home early evening to get dinner ready, homework done and all of you into bed at a reasonable hour!

I get it!!!

Life is busy as a working Mum or businesswoman, so by the end of reading this blog, you will leave with 3 great tips on how you can best restore balance in your life and be free of the shortness of breath and depleted energy that so often goes hand in hand with anxiety, stress and overwhelm.

Before I go further though, I want to share a little about me so you know I do really get where you are coming from. In 2008 I was living my dream life – great job, just got married and we were renovating our home we had just bought! We got back from an amazing honeymoon in New Zealand, and I was unwell. After 9 long months of severe chest and sinus infections & doctors and specialists unable to find what was wrong, I decided to give Natural Medicine a go and went to a Naturopath. In the first visit she diagnosed me with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and suggested I have some time off work. A month off, back to work and within a few days, I was unwell again, so this time the “prescription” was I needed to give up work all together.

As painful and difficult as this time was, fast forward 12 months and thanks to the help of nutrition, supplements, homeopathics, a very clever Naturopath and a loving and supportive husband, I had regained my health! It was a great feeling, but from that moment on, life as I knew it had changed forever. At this point I realized I simply could not continue to do the things that I used to, as my body and mind had strongly told me, that “that life” was no longer serving me!

I was in a position where I needed to learn new skills, as I had done Administration and Sales work for the previous 20 years. Over the next 14 years I studied varying things, worked from home, bought a business with my husband, had a gorgeous little boy and ended up as a Mind Body Eating Coach.

It has been an amazing ride, but something that has really helped me to maintain my health over the past 14 years is learning to work in my masculine and feminine energies.

What does that mean and how do you do it?

Our Masculine Energy is where our “doing” comes from in life i.e. task orientated, focused on getting the job done, keep driving ourselves to get everything completed, meeting deadlines, etc.

Whereas our Feminine Energy is “nurturing” – our caring for self and others. This means allowing ourselves the time, space and kindness to be able to take a break when we need it, have a daytime nap if we are tired, and connect with what our “heart” truly wants in any given situation.

Generally, Anxiety comes from a place of being “stuck” in our masculine energy – of pushing ourselves to get our work done, tending to our children’s needs, attending extra- curricular activities, whilst trying to provide them with good nutrition and teaching them about emotions and life skills – some days it can leave little time to catch our breath.

Along the way, it can become very easy to forget about our own needs and to spend time in our Feminine energy. For this reason, I feel it’s important to understand these 2 very different energies in life and why I want to share with you my 3 top tips for moving yourself into your Feminine energy when life is busy and you are feeling stuck and exhausted from your “doing”!

Tip 3 – Take 30 minutes out of your day that is just for you

Maybe you are up first in the morning and have time for a quiet cuppa before the day starts, or alternatively your time may come when everyone else is tucked up in bed at night – it’s up to you to work out when this will work best – as this is for you.

Tip 2 – Connect with yourself each day

If you are feeling cranky or unhappy, take the time to ask yourself what it is that is making you feel like this? It’s not really because your hubby left the toilet seat up or your kids left wet towels on the floor, is it?? When you take the time to listen – your body, heart and mind have all the answers you will ever need, to solve any problem – and small things only ever bother us, when there is a bigger underlying issue for us.

And my Number 1 Tip for moving yourself into your feminine energy when you are feeling out of alignment with yourself is… Spend time with those that lift you up!

You know the beautiful friend you have that always can put a positive spin on things and help you see life as a glass half full, versus those in your life that see the glass as half empty.

When we surround ourselves with positive people and situations in life, it can do nothing else – other than raise our own vibration and create calmness and positivity in our own life!

Now that you have an understanding of what Masculine and Feminine energy means, I would love for you to create an awareness around your own life and how much of your time you spend in each of these energies…. Is there a nice balance going on? Or does life get a little like a washing machine with all the clothes over one side on the spin cycle?

I promise you if you take the time to practice this awareness and implement my tips above, you will be a whole lot calmer and happier as a woman.

You will actually start to enjoy your many roles of Mum, wife, daughter, friend, co-worker, business owner!
